Rev. Dr. Donna Cox

Rev. Dr. Donna Cox, Pastor-at-Large, believes it is her mission to empower people to apply Biblical truths to 21st century issues in practical, transformative ways. These include coaching, counseling, retreats, workshops, master-classes and themed studies. Donna Cox has extensive education (two masters degrees, Ph.D. and many leadership workshops), 25+ years as an educator and academic leader.  She has presented at professional conferences and universities across the US and in various parts of the world.

♥ Biography in Brief:

Dr. Donna Cox is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis where she received both the Ph.D. and M.M. degrees in Performance Practices: Choral Conducting. She earned the Masters of Theological Studies from the University of Dayton. In addition to serving as Chair of the Department of Music for seven years and Coordinator of Vocal Activities for another seven, Dr. Cox directs the Ebony Heritage Singers, the University gospel choir. A much-sought lecturer and choral adjudicator, she has presented for the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education, the International Conference on Arts In Society, several state music, divisional and national music conferences, and other University symposia.

Dr. Cox has ministered, performed, studied and taught in various parts of the world including Dublin, Ireland where she and a small group of singers opened for the 1998 Tour de France. Dr Cox has performed recitals of African American Arts Songs and Spirituals in Ireland and London. She has traveled several times to Ghana, West Africa to conduct choral and vocal workshops and masterclasses and has been featured in recital at the National Theatre of Ghana. She and groups of singers have traveled to Ghana to study drumming and dance and presented concert tours in Rome, Fossano and Florence, Italy as well as Honolulu, Hawaii. She is a recipient of the Montgomery County Arts and Cultural District Individual Artist Fellowship Award in the Master Artist area.

Rev. Cox is ordained by the American Baptist Churches USA.

Pastor Donna and her husband, Gerald led the Marriage Builders Ministry at the Omega Baptist Church for over fifteen years, transforming it into a ministry with a strong educational focus.

She is the author of five books: Hezekiah Loves Music: Learning Rhythms The Food Way, No Longer Afraid: Breaking Free From the Fear That Has You Bound, Angels Encamped About Me: Provision In The Wilderness, Gospel Songs Your Choir Will Love To Sing and Music In The Core Curriculum: An Integrative Approach.  Most recently, she is the co-editor of  The Performance Series: Anthology of Art Songs and Spirituals By Contemporary African American Arrangers and Composers.

Rev. Dr. Donna Cox offers pre-marital preparation and marriage and personal coaching.  She is a certified facilitator for Interactive Marriage Training (Family Dynamics) and is licensed by the State of Ohio to solemnize marriages.

She is the founder and CEO of Personal Best Ministries, a non-demoninational ministry formed to take the transformative gospel to the world!

In 2010 Donna Cox Ministries/PMB LLC launched a ministry targeted at the 24-30 Somethings generation, one of the most under-served groups in the local churches.  The 24-30 Somethings Fellowship meets monthly to discuss a topic of special interest to the group Rev. Cox calls the ‘what now? generation.  Discussions include relationships, growing deeper in faith, the nexus of spiritual gifts and passions, and living authentic lives.

In 2009, Donna Cox Ministries/PMB LLC introduced the Sabbath Rest Retreats for Busy Women Who Need A Break. The retreats instruct women in the importance of learning to ‘come apart’ and learn to sit quietly before the God who loves them.
